I rented a whole jeepney and got a ride home 🚐

In the Philippines, there is a vehicle called a jeepney.

Usually, it is used as a way to get around, like a bus.

I was surprised to learn that you can use a jeepney instead of a taxi.

Usually, a jeepney leaves after it has picked up a certain number of passengers.

(I think the timing of leaving is quite different depending on the driver.)

But if you tell the driver, "I am in a bit of a hurry now, so please leave right now," they sometimes drive just for you for about the same fare as a taxi.

When I negotiated, the driver said, "OK. It is about 300 pesos for a 15-minute ride, is that OK?"

I said, "That is fine," and got a ride home in the jeepney.

Since I had the chance, I also got to sit in the jeepney's driver's seat.

It was really powerful.

It is not a tank, but it is a rugged car like a military vehicle, and the windows are small too.

I rode it, impressed, thinking, "How can they drive safely with this?"
