This job made me grateful to NTT 🐧

After working in operations, I became grateful to NTT.

In Japan, the big telecom carriers are NTT, KDDI and SoftBank.

KDDI and SoftBank started out as private companies. But NTT is the one that used to be run by the government.

So apparently there is a law saying that no matter how rural the land is, they have to provide phone lines there.

Usually, a company puts the network where the city centres are, where people gather.

But NTT is the one that has put it in even for the really rural parts.

The way I read it, if you can use the internet out in the Japanese countryside, that is thanks to NTT in a big way.
