🥚 Why eggs?
Full Of Eggs

When I lived in Cebu, my fridge was full of eggs.

Protein Matters

I had this idea in my head that getting enough protein matters.

The Meat Smell

But if you want protein in Cebu, the first thing is meat, and both the chicken and the pork have a bit of a smell to them compared to the meat you can buy in a supermarket back home.

Lots Of Bones

There are also quite a lot of bones in it, which made it hard to eat.

Not Cooking

So I never really felt like cooking the meat myself.

Eggs Instead

Which is how I ended up eating eggs all the time in Cebu.

🛒 Trays of 30
Fried Eggs Only

The eggs, I did cook myself. Mostly, I just made fried eggs.

Trays Of 30

I always bought eggs in trays of 30.

Ayala And Metro

There was a fairly well known shopping mall nearby called Ayala, and inside Ayala Center Cebu there's a store called Metro.

Buying Them Up

I was basically buying up their eggs.

Packed With Eggs

Before I knew it, the fridge was packed with them.

🎮 Eggs = lives
Eggs As Lives

Back then, I genuinely believed the number of eggs in my fridge was the same as my number of lives in real life.

Like Mario

Like in a Mario game, I felt this tension that if the number of eggs ever hit zero, I might actually die in the real world, so I always kept my fridge stocked with eggs.

A Superfood

Because eggs are a superfood. As long as I have eggs, life will somehow work out.
