That is exactly right.

When I went to Malaysia, it was just at the time when smoke from forest fires in Indonesia was affecting all of Malaysia.

I went at a time when air pollution was very bad, so bad that the air quality index was called "unhealthy."

Normally, the night view of Kuala Lumpur should be very beautiful.

But sadly, there was something called "haze," I think.

I think Indonesia is quite far from Kuala Lumpur.

But it seemed the effect of the forest fires reached all the way to Malaysia.

The air pollution was so bad that I could not see the tops of buildings or far away at all.

My lungs also started to feel kind of weird.

So I did not go outside much, and I spent quite a lot of my Kuala Lumpur trip inside.

If it reaches this far even though it is so far away, I started to worry a little about the local people in Indonesia.

Even with forest fires, I had heard that squalls fall in Southeast Asia.

So I hoped that if it just rained, this air pollution would get better.

But September in Malaysia seems to be the dry season, and it did not rain much.

I thought that in Malaysia, a squall falls hard for about 30 minutes at the same time every day.

I thought, "So there is a time when it does not rain at all," and I had not studied enough about that.
