Listening to English radio somehow calms me down a little 🎧

Something I noticed

Lately I've noticed that my mind settles a little more when I listen to English radio than Japanese radio.

The reason

When I think about why, I think it's probably because my view gets wider.

Listening to English, I can feel a much bigger world outside Japan.

Feeling small

When I touch something big, I feel small, in a good way.

Then the weight on my shoulders drops a little, and it's easier to start on the next thing I need to do.

One caution

I have one caution of my own, though. When the English is spoken by a Japanese person, I end up comparing myself to them.

Once I start comparing, the view that had finally opened up shrinks back inside Japan again.

So now

So lately, I play English from people overseas, more or less like background music.

I barely understand what they're saying, though 🙂‍↕️
