The rooftop where I looked up at the stars was my favourite place 🐧

⭐ My favourite place
My Favourite Place

My favourite place when I was studying English in Baguio was a pantry, I think you would call it, a place at night where you could hang up your laundry. I loved sitting there and looking up at the night sky.

Who Came Up

All kinds of people came up here. I often went up onto that pantry roof with friends, and often on my own.

A Beautiful View

The view of the sky from here was really beautiful, and I came up to cool my head. To chill.

🍺 Now, I'd want a beer
Want A Beer

Looking back, I was 19 then, so I had no urge like that. But now that I am past 20, I do feel like I would want a beer up here. Like I would want a drink.

Twenty Thousand Pesos

But at this school, bringing alcohol in meant a fine of 20,000 pesos. In Japanese money that is about 50,000 yen, and in US dollars about 350 dollars, just for bringing alcohol in. That is how strict the school was, so you could not bring any alcohol in.

Would Suit Me

Still, at the age I am now, I really think a drink up there would suit the place.

🐕 Stars and stray dogs
The Song

What I listened to up there, looking up at the stars, was a song called Betelgeuse by Yuuri. Honestly, when I hear that song I remember this rooftop at the school in Baguio, because the sky looked so beautiful from there.

Stray Dogs

But it is Southeast Asia, so there are a lot of stray dogs, and you can hear them barking away while you are up there. That is a nostalgic thing to remember too.
