The best shift I had was during the baseball tournament 🐧

If you ask which day was the most fun, it was the day of the World Baseball Classic.

As a Japanese person, working the shift on the day of the baseball WBC was fun.

On that day the whole country turns into something like a festival. Japanese people really love baseball.

Talking about baseball with everyone, keeping an eye on the live scores, but also watching the alarms, all of us chatting away while we worked.

The traffic was interesting too.

The 2026 WBC was streamed online, and from around 7pm to 10pm, everyone connects to the internet to watch that stream.

When that happens, you can see the internet usage in red and yellow.

You could tell across the board that usage was high in that time window, and think: almost everyone is probably watching the WBC right now. Monitoring that was fun too.

Because so many people across the country watch the stream, a slightly special setup was put in place so the network would not go down. That made it interesting.

And that day they ordered pizza and delivery for us, and we all ate it together while working. It is a good memory.
