If you work two shifts, day and night, you get 8 days off in a row every month! 🌙
My way of working is two shifts, repeating day shifts and night shifts.
I work 6 days and rest 2 days. That is the cycle.
Then, of course, there are not nearly enough days off, right?
So in my case, I get a big block of days off in a row in the middle of every month!
In months with many holidays, or when I combine it with paid leave, it becomes 7 to 8 days off in a row.
With two shifts, we work in teams (groups).
So there are days when the shift has some room, and days when I do not cause any trouble to the people around me even if I take a day off.
By using paid leave or taking days off on those days, I can take a big break of about 8 days in a row every month.
Let's say the days off are in the middle of the month.
It is not decided exactly as "which week," but in terms of energy over a month, it is roughly like this.
① After the days off (the second half of the month): Energetic
In the second half of the month, since it is right after the days off, I am pretty energetic.
I am energetic every day, in the mood of "I can still work totally fine."
I also have fairly good self-control.
I can hold back from the food I want to eat, and after I get home, I can study and read to improve myself.
② The end of the month to the start of the next month: My self-control starts to break
From about the 2nd week of "work 6 days, rest 2 days," the days gradually start to feel short.
I start to feel tired little by little, and sometimes I cannot sleep well.
And all kinds of self-control start to break down.
Around this time, I eat out more.
The work itself is not stressful. My workplace is a very good workplace.
It is simply that there are night shifts in the two-shift system, so my body starts to get worn out.
For about 1 week after the days off, I was energetic and night shifts were fine.
But around this 2nd week, it is quite a battlefield.
Every day, I drink beer on my way home.
③ Before the days off: My body gets used to it
Around the time before the days off, my body starts getting used to the irregular two-shift cycle.
Then, basically, I stop feeling anything.
"Well, this is just how life is" already soaks into my body.
Rather, on day-shift days I can wake up sharp in the morning, on night-shift days I can sleep properly, and I get good at taking naps.
When my body gets completely used to it, I stop feeling stress too.
It is not so painful that I cannot go on without drinking beer after work.
I start to get excited, thinking "the days off are coming soon."
But as expected, I start to lack sleep, so in the week before the days off, I drink coffee more than water.
④ Days off: Back to full power
During the days off, I get up at around 7 or 8 every morning and live a regular life.
I do not really lack sleep or stay up all night, so my health comes back completely.
I also detox from caffeine here.
I repeat this cycle every month.
